AIR QUALITY

The City of Bryan recognizes that good air quality is important to everyone. As part of the Be Green in Bryan Program, the City addresses its impacts on local air quality and promotes a healthy outdoor air for all citizens. Some of the City’s current efforts include:

  • Right-sizing the City Fleet
  • Placing laptops in vehicles to reduce travel to/from office
  • Anti-idling policies
  • Consolidating trips within the City
  • Route planning to maximize efficiency
  • Routine preventative maintenance
  • Light acceleration/ Non-aggressive driving

Alternative Vehicle Facts

  • BTU currently has several gas/electric hybrid Customer Service vehicles
  • The Environmental Services Department is purchasing a hybrid vehicle this year and is in the process of researching the use of a solid waste truck run on bio-diesel
  • The Transportation Department is researching the purchase a hydrogen/natural gas mix vehicle once the technology is available
