A Statewide Fun and Fitness Program |
|
|
This year Brazos County is going to use various mileage equivalents instead of the "15 minutes equals one mile rule. Participants have several options to use: 1) A measured mile at a track, walking trail, treadmill, etc. 2) Miles calculated using the mileage equivalency calculator at the 3) 2,000 steps measured on a pedometer. 4) 20 minutes of any continuous exercise. The Task Force thinks this option offers more flexibility to program participants.
You track your mileage electronically at the state web site.
Teams may also pick up a free Texas DOT map from the Texas Agrilife Office and track their own team miles at home or work. (1 inch = 23 miles)
Since we start on a Saturday (February 11th), logically, our weeks will start on that date. This is not a requirement but it will be fairest if everybody uses the same periods to report miles. I know...there's actually 57 days until April 7th, not 56 days (8 weeks). Thanks to Anita at BVCOG for keeping me straight. We'll try to count better next year. Week 1-------February 11-February 17 Week 2-------February 18 - February 24 Week 3----------February 25 - March 2 Week 4---------------March 3 - March 9 Week 5------------March 10 - March 16 Week 6------------March 17 - March 23 Week 7------------March 24 - March 30 Week 8----------------March 31 - April 6
