    Permits, Licenses and Vital Statistics

    The City Secretary’s Office is responsible for the issuance of certain permits and licenses for various operations within the City of Bryan. These permits and licenses include alcoholic beverage licenses, vehicle for hire permits,  and grave digging permits.

    (Please fill in all information, print form, and submit to City Secretary’s Office with all supporting documentation.  Sworn statements must be signed in the presence of a Notary Public.)

    Vital Statistics

    **The Vital Statistics Office will be closed on Friday, December 8, 2017 from 10:45 to 12:45 p.m. to allow employees to attend the City’s annual holiday luncheon.  During this time, you may visit the Brazos County Clerk’s Office to obtain records.  Thank you.**  

    The City Secretary’s Vital Statistics Office receives, records and issues birth and death certificates, amendments to birth and death certificates, name changes, court ordered adoptions and burial transit permits. This office also serves as a remote birth certificate printing location for the State Bureau of Vital Statistics. Certified birth certificates for any individual born in the State of Texas can be issued immediately upon request.

    *The office stops accepting new applications at 4:30 p.m.  Applications received before 4:30 p.m. should be processed before 5:00 p.m. the same day.

    Costs and Requirements

    Effective December 1, 2005, the cost for birth and death certificates obtained through the City of Bryan Vital Statistics Office is as follows:

    Birth Certificates: $23.00 each

    Death Certificates (Bryan deaths only): $21.00 for first certificate, $4.00 for each additional certificate (of same record)

    All requests processed by mail will be charged an additional $7.00 fee for postage and handling

    • A photo I.D. and completed application are required when requesting certified copies of birth and/or death certificates. Qualified applicants must also bring a copy of a birth certificate ( i.e. grandparents, siblings) or marriage license ( i.e. spouse) to provide proof of relationship.
    • Make checks payable to: City of Bryan.  Out of state checks cannot be accepted.
    • We now accept credit card payments (VISA, MasterCard and Discover)

    **For requests submitted by mail, please include a copy of identification front and back.  Due to new legislation effective September 1, 2015, all applications  processed via mail must have a notarized proof of identification form completed and submitted along with a completed application and acceptable identification.

    **Please note that our office is unable to provide original birth records for births occurring prior to 1969 due to loss in a fire.  For original birth records (long-form birth certificate) prior to 1969 please contact either:
