The City Manager's office is the legislatively-appointed administrative branch of the Bryan city government. Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the City, the City Manager is responsible for many areas of service, including such things as supervising each Departmental Director, serving as the chief advisor to the City Council, entering the City into service and supply contracts, and disbursing funds from the City budget.
The City Manager is one of the four Council-appointed positions. The City Manager serves at the will of the Council and is the only City employee under contract.
The Administrative team consists of the City Manager, Deputy City Manager-Support Services, Deputy City Manager-Community Services, and three Executive Services Assistants. Administration works with the Council, City staff, and citizens to establish Council policies, legislation, employee policies and long-range goals and objectives. Continually working with the City's other departments, staff members in Executive Services must have both a broad conceptual understanding as well as detailed grasp of specific City operations and service delivery strategies.
Through the promotion of teamwork and employee development, the City Manager's Administrative team is responsible for coordinating the cumulative efforts of the other City departments. This coordination serves the purposes of enhancing productivity and maximum utilization of City resources.
