Final results for the Salvation Army’s Mayors' Challenge
Mayor Jason Bienski of Bryan, Mayor Nancy Berry of College Station and Wal-Mart teamed together to raise nearly $6,000 for the Salvation Army of Brazos County during the annual Mayors’ Challenge on Saturday, December 11.
Mayor Bienski raised a total of $3,924.09 at the Bryan Wal-Mart and Mayor Berry raised a total of $2,046.02. Each of the mayors’ totals includes a $1,000 matching donation from their respective Wal-Marts. The winner of the friendly competition between the mayors receives the Bell Ringer’s Trophy, which will remain in Bryan for the fourth consecutive year.
Other Bryan council members, first responders from the Police and Fire Departments, Bryan city staff members and KaBoom of the Brazos Valley Bombers all helped Bienski collect money in Bryan during the hour-long event.
Even though the competition for this year has ended, you can still make donations to the Salvation Army to help local families during the holiday season. You can contact the local Salvation Army Chapter at (979) 361-0618.
Money from the annual holiday collection drive is used to provide food, clothing, shelter, toys, financial assistance and counseling to Brazos Valley residents in need.
