BTU forced to turn off portions of electricity
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) has ordered all power providers to shed a portion of their power loads due to strain on the statewide grid. All power providers, including Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) are urging customers to reduce power use and turn off all unnecessary electrical equipment. Twenty minute rolling blackouts will continue as long as the ERCOT mandate is in place. A timetable for a return to full power is unknown at this time.
BTU is turning off portions of their service area to comply with the ERCOT mandate in 20 minute intervals. Critical needs areas, such as hospitals, are not being blacked-out.
If motorists should encounter a traffic signal that is out, treat the signal as if it is a 4-way stop, and exercise caution in those areas.
Thank you for your patience during this time.
