Household Hazardous Waste collection set for April 23
The Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency (BVSWMA), in conjunction with the cities of Bryan and College Station will hold its Household Hazardous Waste & Computer Collection event on Saturday, April 23, from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Texas A&M University Services Building at 3380 University Drive East.
Residents from across the Brazos Valley can dispose of household hazardous waste, which includes most items not considered safe for the landfill, free of charge.
Items typically accepted include solvents, pesticides, caustic cleaners, used motor oil, batteries, oil, paint and computers.
Items that will not be accepted include televisions, household garbage, 55-gallon drums, ammunition, explosives and tires. A complete list of items that are and are not accepted is posted online at www.cstx.gov/hhw
Small businesses and municipal departments will be able to dispose of computer components, but will not be able to dispose of other hazardous wastes at this event.
Collection events are held twice a year to provide citizens of the Brazos Valley an environmentally sound program to collect, dispose of, recycle and ultimately reduce the household hazardous waste products in the community by keeping those wastes out of the landfill.
At this time, volunteers are needed for the Household Hazardous Waste collection event. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will be provided to volunteers.
Volunteers are needed to cover the following shifts:
6:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
12:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
