Bryan celebrates National Park & Recreation Month in July
The City of Bryan Parks and Recreation Department is taking part in National Park and Recreation Month in July. Since 1985, Americans have celebrated Park and Recreation Month during the month of July to promote the importance of parks and recreation in establishing and maintaining healthy lifestyles and communities.
The City of Bryan is kicking off their celebration during First Friday in Sale Park on July 1 where the Downtown Bryan Association will be showing Over the Hedge, presented by “Movies with Madden’s.”
Local residents are also invited to participate in a City of Bryan Parks Scavenger Hunt. On 13 select days throughout the month of July hints will be posted on the City’s Parks and Recreation Facebook page revealing a City of Bryan park or facility. Participants will figure out the clue, snap a photo of themselves at the park, and upload the photo to the City’s website here. Every photo that is uploaded gives the participant a chance to win prizes at the end of the month.
National Park and Recreation month comes to a close near the end of the month with a “Rock Your Park” concert on July 29th with the Rock-a-fellas at Sue Haswell Park. It is at this concert that prizes from the scavenger hunt will be distributed.
In addition to the scavenger hunt, “Rock Your Park” calendars have also been created, (see below) with fun ideas of what to do each day during the month of July at Bryan Parks and Recreation facilities. So rock your park, and celebrate National Park and Recreation month with the City of Bryan!
