Household Hazardous Waste Collection event set for Oct. 1

The Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency, Inc. (BVSWMA, Inc.) will hold its fall Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on Saturday, Oct. 1 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Texas A&M University Services Building, located at 3380 University Drive East.

This program offers residents from across the Brazos Valley a safe, economical way to dispose of household items that are flammable, reactive, corrosive or toxic. Items typically accepted include pharmaceuticals and medical waste, solvents, pesticides, caustic cleaners, used motor oil, batteries, oil, paint and computers. Unacceptable items include televisions, household garbage, 55-gallon drums, ammunition, explosives and tires.

Small businesses and municipal departments will be able to dispose of computer components, but will not be able to dispose of other hazardous wastes at this event.

The Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency, Inc. is a non-profit local governmental corporation formed in 2010 under a joint agreement between the City of Bryan and the City of College Station. BVSWMA, Inc. operates the Twin Oaks Landfill in Anderson, Texas and the BVSWMA, Inc. Compost Facility in Bryan, Texas. BVSWMA, Inc. also maintains the closed Rock Prairie Road Landfill in College Station, Texas.
