Smoke testing to begin Tuesday
Beginning Tuesday, January 31, around 8:30 a.m., field crews from Bryan’s Water Services Department will be performing smoke testing of the sanitary sewer lines to identify broken pipes and other defects. Field crews will introduce smoke into the sewer lines and manholes in order to perform testing.
Field crews will enter properties to document defects. At no time will crews need to enter private residences. Citizens do not need to be home during the test.
Testing will continue intermittently through the duration of the month of February. The target area consists of properties located within the boundaries of the 900 Block of Tanglewood Drive, Garden Acres Boulevard, Stanfield Circle, Briar Cliff Drive, Enfield Street, East North Avenue, Edgewood Street, Windowmere Street, Lazy Lane, Mary Lake Drive, Broadmoor Drive , from South Texas Avenue East to Parkway Terrace, Eagle Pass Street, Oak Lane, Brook Lane, Meadow Lane, Tejas Center, 700 Block of East Villa Maria Road, and South Texas Avenue, from East Villa Maria Road South to Garden Acres Boulevard. The smoke will exit from vent pipes on the roofs of houses. The smoke is non-toxic, leaves no residue and creates no fire hazard. The smoke will not enter a house unless there is defective plumbing present or the drain traps are dry. To help prevent smoke from entering a home, please pour about 1 gallon of water into any seldom-used drains.
