Press Release Friday, October 26, 2012Brazos Valley Search and Rescue Exercise
On Saturday October 27, 2012 the Brazos Valley Search and Rescue (SVSAR) along with the Bryan Fire and Police Departments will be conducting a simulated disaster exercise at Lake Bryan located at 8200 Sandy Point Rd in Bryan. The scenario planned for this disaster will be a mid-air collision involving commuter aircraft. The exercise will start at 9am and should conclude around 3pm. Citizens may notice a large number of emergency response personnel, vehicles and several air craft in the area of Lake Bryan as this disaster simulation unfolds.
The exercise will encompass air searches, water searches and ground searches. The exercise will utilize the nationally recognized Emergency Management System. ICS, to manage canine searchers, mounted searchers, foot searchers, dive teams, fire departments, law enforcement units, civil air patrol, and emergency medical services.
