Press Release Wednesday, October 31, 2012Guns and Hoses Blood Drive Results
On Tuesday October 30, 2012, the Bryan Police Department and the Bryan Fire Department worked with the Blood Center of the Brazos Valley for the Guns and Hoses Blood Drive. The blood drive is a friendly competition between the two city departments to see who could raise the most donations for the local blood bank. This effort was supported by the Chiefs from the Police and Fire Department. The blood drive was hosted at City Hall and ran from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. We had officers, fire fighters, city employees, family members of employees, and citizens donate their time and blood for this event. The Police Department retains their title by receiving the most donations this year. We would like to thank all those who participated. The purpose of the competition was to give back to the community and to educate the public of the importance of giving blood. Each blood unit given can save up to three lives. The blood raised in this blood drive will benefit those who need it.
