Mold Found at Bryan Fire Station
BFD Taking Steps to Eliminate Problem
WHAT: The Bryan Fire Department has determined there is a mold problem at Fire Station 3 located on Briarcrest. The mold is located in the wall behind the men’s restroom area. At this time; Medic 3 (ambulance) and Engine 3 (fire truck) have been moved to other Bryan fire stations.
The Bryan Fire Department is committed to providing excellent emergency services to Bryan residents and visitors. Emergency response to the portion of the community typically served by Fire Station 3 will be provided by other stations.
Currently, fire officials are working with City of Bryan Facility Services personnel; they are gathering as much information about the mold and looking into removal processes. A mold “expert “from Austin has been contacted and air samples are being taken to determine the severity of the situation at Station 3. Those results are expected within the next couple of days. Until then, fire personnel will not respond from Station 3.
In addition, the Fire Department is determining what type of health screens need to be given to personnel who work at the station.
