City of Bryan Community Development Advisory Committee Host Public Meeting and Public Hearings
Public Hearings regarding 2008-09 Community Development Block Grant and Home Investment Partnership programs
The City of Bryan’s Community Development Advisory Committee (CDAC) will host one public meeting and 3 public hearings at 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at the City of Bryan’s Municipal Office Building, Basement Training Room, 300 S. Texas Avenue, Bryan, Texas at 6:00 P.M. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
The public meeting will take place before the public hearings and will include staff reports on current projects. This meeting will give the CDAC, staff and any visitors an opportunity for discussion. Immediately following the public meeting will be 3 public hearings which will include an opportunity for public comment on:
1. The 2008 draft Consolidated Action Plan (Plan). The 2008 Plan is the City’s annual application for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership Program (HOME) grant funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The plan summarizes what activities and projects the City will undertake with these funds.
2. Affirmative Marketing plan as required by 24 CFR 570.506 (g) for CDBG and 24 CFR 92.509 (b) for HOME. There will be a presentation, followed by a comment period.
3. Fair Housing presentation followed by a public comment period.
The City of Bryan’s Community Development Services Department annually receives approximately $1.4 million CDBG and HOME funds. At least 70% of the CDBG grant is allocated to eligible activities for citizens who are at, or below, 80% of the area’s median income. Eligible activities include owner-occupied housing programs, economic development, public facilities, code enforcement, public services and infrastructure (i.e. streets, sidewalks and sanitary sewer service in low- to moderate-income areas).
Anyone who would like to make comments regarding these public hearings and specifically housing, public facilities/infrastructure, code enforcement, economic development and public service funding, for the next fiscal year, should attend. If unable to attend, anyone wishing to make comments regarding the public hearings may call 979-209-5175 or write to the City of Bryan, Community Development Services Department, 405 W. 28th Street, P.O. Box 1000, Bryan, Texas 77805 by July 31, 2008.
