All-way stops to be activated near new high school
Before the new Rudder High School opens Monday morning, the Texas Department of Transportation contractor will install stop signs at the intersection of Earl Rudder Freeway’s west frontage road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, and at the intersection of the freeway’s east frontage road and Old Reliance Road.
The stop sign configuration is temporary.
TxDOT is planning to have traffic signals installed at both intersections in about one month, weather permitting. This temporary all-way stop is needed to manage traffic because the new Rudder High School opens Monday.
Additionally, the City of Bryan will activate a new traffic signal before 7 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Old Reliance Road and Austin’s Colony Parkway. The speed limit on Old Reliance Road will be reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph from the frontage road to a point just east of Austin’s Colony Parkway.
TxDOT and City of Bryan warn all motorists to use caution and appreciate everyone’s patience while they are traveling through this area.
