Bryan named award finalist for downtown improvements
Downtown Bryan’s infrastructure improvements recently were named as a finalist for the Best Public Improvement Award by the Texas Downtown Association.
Bryan’s downtown master plan was approved in 2001. Since then, the city has implemented two phases of the master plan and invested more than $1.1 million in infrastructure improvements.
Awards will be presented at the 2008 Texas Downtown Revitalization Conference in Temple on Nov. 11-14. Other finalists for the Best Public Improvement Award include Granbury Town Lake in Granbury and a downtown streetscape project in Weslaco.
Bryan won a Texas Downtown Association award last year when the city’s Texas Reds Steak and Grape Festival was honored as the Best Promotional Event or Festival.
The Texas Downtown Association includes more than 400 organizations and individuals whose goal is to work toward the revitalization of a downtown area or commercial district.
