Bryan Police make arrest in shooting


On the 20th of September at approximately 3:54am, The Bryan Police Department responded to a shooting in the 3200 block of Finfeather Road. The victim, an 18 year old Hispanic male, reported that he was shot while driving his 2003 Chevrolet. In the vehicle with the victim was a 15 year old male, a 12 year old male and an 18 year old male. The victim stated that he observed a dark colored pickup truck following him and then heard three shots. The victim received a gun shot wound in the shoulder. The victim reported that the alleged suspect was his sister’s ex-boyfriend.

The Bryan Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene of the offense to initiate a criminal investigation. The Detectives working the case were able to obtain a 4 count aggravated assault with a deadly weapon warrant on Javier L. Cervantes, H/M, DOB 01/03/1986. With the assistance of the Brazos County Special Investigations Unit, Bryan Police Officers arrested Javier Cervantes on the 22nd of September at 9:51pm. Cervantes is currently held in the Brazos County Jail with a $60,000 bond and an Immigration Hold.
