Bryan Police Prepare for National Night Out
Several events are scheduled over the next few days as the Bryan Police Department prepares for the 25th Annual National Night Out. National Night Out, scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 7, is designed to heighten awareness for crime prevention and drug prevention; generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The following events are planned:
• Bryan Police will be joining other law enforcement representatives and dignitaries on Friday, Oct. 3, at noon, at the Brazos County Administration Building to sign a proclamation honoring the 25th Annual National Night Out.
• A National Night Out kickoff is planned from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at the Sears parking lot in Post Oak Mall.
• A community event, sponsored by Target and in conjuction with City of Bryan, promoting National Night Out is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at the Target store in the Bryan Towne Center. “Target and Blue – Safe City” is a partnership with Target Department Stores and area law enforcement agencies to create safer communities.
All Bryan residents are encouraged to step outside on this evening, meet their neighbors and visit with local law enforcement officers, who will be stopping at neighborhood gatherings throughout the evening on Tuesday, Oct. 7. If you would like a Bryan Police Officer to visit your neighborhood gathering, please call Officer Ed Grawl at 209-5352 or Neighborhood Enforcement Team Sgt. Demond Oliver at 209-5539.
