College Night planned in downtown Bryan
The City of Bryan is hosting a College Night event in downtown Bryan on Friday, Oct. 24. The event was rescheduled from a September date due to Hurricane Ike.
The businesses, bars and restaurants of Downtown Bryan are opening their doors to welcome students from Texas A&M University and Blinn College. We want to show them the nightlife and dining opportunities in our unique historic downtown.
Show your student ID at the Palace Theatre after 8 p.m. and you’ll be entered into a raffle for prizes that include a laptop computer, iPod and gift baskets.
College Night addresses one of the Bryan City Council’s strategic initiatives: Promoting Bryan’s positive image. We’d like to show off what a great asset we have with our downtown and let students know there’s an alternative to Northgate.
Here are a few of the events scheduled for Oct. 24:
• Rattletree at Revolution Café and Bar, 10 p.m.
• Wall of Fiction at The Palace Theatre, 8 p.m.
• Live entertainment at Halo, 11:30 p.m. Doors open and dancing begins at 9:30 p.m.
• Alyx Pryce at Stafford Main Street, 9 p.m.
• Red Wasp Film Festival at StageCenter on West 26th Street, Oct. 24 and 25. Screening schedule at www.redwasp.org
Downtown Bryan also features several great restaurants, including Brahaus German restaurant and Murphy’s Law Irish Pub, Caffe Capri, Casa Rodriguez, LaSalle Café for coffee and dessert, Los Nortenos, Madden’s Casual Gourmet, Margie’s Bar and Grill, Mr. G’s Pizzeria, Papa Perez Mexican Cuisine, Square One Bistro, Subway and River Bridge Bar and Grill.
Several of the downtown restaurants will be featuring discounts or special offers on Oct. 24.
Organizers are Al Hauke, 209-5635, and Alissa Burgess, 822-2000.
