Veterans Day events planned
Several events are scheduled to commemorate Veterans Day this weekend in historic downtown Bryan.
A Veterans Weekend Kickoff Celebration is set to begin at 6 p.m. Friday. The event in the city’s downtown district will feature live entertainment from 6 to 8 p.m. The movie Forrest Gump will be featured at the Palace Theater from 8 to 10 p.m. Free popcorn will be served.
A convoy of military equipment from the Museum of the American G.I. will travel down Texas Avenue beginning at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8. From noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, and from noon to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9, the equipment will be on display on 26th Street in Bryan. The Masonic Lodge and Downtown 202 will be converted into veterans museums, displaying historical Brazos Valley military history.
The celebration continues Sunday, Nov. 9, at noon, with entertainment from 12:30 to 5 p.m. in the Palace Theater. A presentation of the colors is scheduled for 1 p.m., followed by performances from Brazos Valley Troupe and Karan Chavis. A U.S. Air Force flyover will commence the Bryan Rotary Club Veterans Parade at 2:30 p.m.
