Bryan wins award
Downtown Bryanís infrastructure upgrades were recognized Thursday evening as the Texas Downtown Associationís Best Public Improvement.
Planner Julie Fulgham, Planning Manager Lindsey Guindi, Deputy City Manager Joey Dunn, Public Works Director Linda Huff, City Engineer Paul Kaspar and Engineering Inspector Mark Luedke accepted the award at a ceremony in Temple. Mayor Pro Tem Jason Bienski and Downtown Bryan Economic Development Director Cindy Peaslee and DBEDA member Debbie Bonds also joined the group.
The upgrades are part of Bryanís downtown master plan, which was approved in 2001. Since then, the city has implemented two phases of the master plan and invested more than $11.1 million in streetscaping efforts.
This is Bryanís second consecutive year to win an award from the Texas Downtown Association. The City was honored last year when the Texas Reds Steak and Grape Festival was named Best Promotional Event or Festival.
The Texas Downtown Association includes more than 400 organizations and individuals whose goal is to work toward the revitalization of a downtown area or commercial district.
