Old Reliance Road project to start Dec. 29
Construction is set to begin Dec. 29 on the Old Reliance Road widening project.
The work consists of grading, pavement, sidewalk, water and storm sewer improvements. The project includes the complete reconstruction of Old Reliance Road from the Texas Department of Transportation limits at Texas 6 to approximately 800 feet northeast of Austinís Colony Parkway.
The proposed roadway will be a four-lane, divided road with the capacity and safety measures needed to serve current and future development in the area. The roadway design incorporates wide medians which gives room for the addition of two lanes if future roadway capacity is needed. The median design allows the roadway to be constructed to meet todayís needs, with the option of expanding the roadway as demand increases. The streetscape design includes sidewalks for pedestrian use and low-maintenance landscaping. The sidewalk and landscaping will extend from the rear high school drive to Austinís Colony Parkway, and all median areas will have similar landscaping. In addition to the roadway expansion, approximately 1,000 feet of storm sewer piping and related structures will be constructed.
Old Reliance Road will remain open to traffic during construction; however, there may be times when delays can be expected.
The project is expected to last through the summer.
