Officers make arrest on evading motorcyclist
On January 21, 2009, an Officer from the Bryan Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a yellow and black motorcycle for speeding. The motorcycle evaded from the officer and reached a speed of 80mph on Briarcrest at Kent. The motorcycle then began to weave in out of traffic while attempting to evade police. Officers disengaged the traffic stop due to the safety of the citizens and the evading motorcyclist.
On January 26, 2009, Officers observed a motorcycle matching the description of the motorcycle that evaded police just days earlier. Officers attempted to stop the motorcycle on another traffic violation at which time the motorcycle again fled from police. Officers again did not give chase due to the recklessness of the motorcyclist and the safety of the citizens. Approximately 30 minutes later a Constable located the motorcycle across town and attempted to initiate a third traffic stop due to a matching description of the motorcycle and the matching license plate BU BYE that was on the motorcycle. The motorcycle again fled from the police reaching speeds of 90mph on the HWY 6 Frontage Road.
Enough information was gathered on the identity and location of the suspect that an arrest warrant and a search warrant was granted. On January 29, 2009, the suspect Seth Allen Dillard, W/M, DOB 06/25/1986 was placed under arrest for evading in a motor vehicle. A search of the suspectís residence revealed a helmet that was located in the attic that was a match to the suspectís in the previous evading cases. The yellow and black motorcycle was also seized as evidence in the evading cases.
The reckless actions of Dillard put the lives of our citizen at risk. Bryan Police strives to keep the citizens of Bryan safe while at home and on the roads. The Traffic Safety Unit and many patrol officers worked exceptionally hard and for many hours on the investigation of the evading cases in order to get Dillard off the street because of his disregard for his safety and the safety of others. The Bryan Police Department is requesting any member of the community with knowledge of Seth Dillard being associated with a black and yellow Honda CBR F4i with a fake license plate that reads BU BYE to please contact the Police Department at 979-209-5301.
