Bryan Police makes arrest in church burglaries
During the month of March 2009, numerous burglary of building reports were taking involving churches being broken into; where money and other items were stolen. The Bryan Police Department’s Officers and Detectives actively investigated the burglaries.
The Bryan Police Department identified a person of interest during the investigation. The Criminal Investigation Division utilized scent evidence canines to perform comparisons between evidence recovered at the scenes and the person of interest. The Bryan Police Department was assisted in these cases by the Canine Scent Evidence Unit from Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.
On April 21, 2009, the Bryan Police Department Criminal Investigation Division made an arrest in 5 church burglaries.
The five churches that were burglarized were:
March 1, 2009 1002 E 29th Street El Calvario Baptist Church
March 9, 2009 900 South Ennis First Christian Church
March 16, 2009 3610 Plainsman Lane Mount Nebo Church
March 16, 2009 600 South Coulter St Joseph’s Catholic School
March 16, 2009 1600 E. 29th Street Central Church of Christ
Richards, Keith Paul, Jr., B/M, DOB 09/20/1986
Richards is currently in the Brazos County Jail with at $48,000 bond for the burglaries. Burglary of a building is a State Jail Felony and is punishable by a confinement for a term from 180 days to 2 years in a state jail; and an optional fine not to exceed $10,000.
