City of Bryan launches Twitter pages
The City of Bryan recently created Twitter pages.
The City’s page can be accessed at www.twitter.com/cityofbryan. BPD’s Twitter site is at www.twitter.com/BryanPolice. The Bryan Fire Department’s site is www.twitter.com/BryanFD.
Twitter is a free social messaging utility for staying connected in real-time and can be accessed from a mobile device. City and police department officials believe the new sites offer a creative mechanism for getting messages to citizens quickly.
Residents are invited to sign up to follow both Twitter sites. They will have the option of press releases being sent immediately to their cellular phones – or they can simply log on to the site to see updated information issued by the City, Police Department and Fire Department.
Information posted to the Twitter sites will include:
• Press releases
• Citizens Police Academy info
• Street closures
• Special events
• Weather events
• Amber alerts
• Neighborhood Enforcement Team announcements
• Recruiting announcements
• Crime prevention and safety tips
“The Bryan Police Department is excited about building more partnerships with the citizens in our community,” said Public Information Officer Jason James. “It is through these partnerships with the citizens that the City of Bryan will become the safest City in the Great State of Texas.”
City officials also are excited about the opportunity.
“This is yet another tool we can use to provide up-to-date information to our residents,” said Communications Director April Saginor.
