Multiple Agencies Continue the Search for Missing Child at Lake Bryan
On June 15, 2009 at 3:24pm, the missing 5 year old girl was been found deceased. An investigation is still pending and the name of the deceased will be released at a later time.
We would also like to thank the College Station Fire Department for their assistance in the search and rescue operation. The partnerships the Bryan Police Department has form with other agencies has been a tremendous help in this search and rescue operation.
Around 8:30 pm on June 14th, 2009, Brazos County 9-1-1 Dispatch received a phone call from individuals at Lake Bryan stating that a 5 year old girl had gone missing and they believed she had wandered off from her parents. Authorities began an extensive search of the area, but after more than five hours of searching they were forced to suspend the search until morning.
Early this morning, June 15th, multiple agencies took up the search for this young girl once again. Multiple agencies are now conducting ground, water, and air search/rescue operations. The Bryan Fire Department and Bryan Police Department continue to search the woods and grounds surrounding the lake. The Texas Department of Public Safety has provided air support through the use of a DPS helicopter to search from the air. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department have contributed a boat and dive team to conduct the water portion of the search. There are also several private search and rescue organizations that have provided search and rescue personnel and K-9s to assist. Multiple other City of Bryan personnel are also involved with the support services of this operation. A great deal of thanks and gratitude go out to all those agencies that are assisting in this ongoing search and rescue operation.
More information will be made public as it becomes available. Any person with information relative to this search and rescue operation is asked to contact the Bryan Police Department at 979-209-5301.
