Door-to-door solicitors causing alarm
The Neighborhood Enforcement Team has received numerous calls from residents about door-to-door solicitors. These solicitors are selling residential burglary alarms and are with a legitimate business which holds a permit through the City of Bryan to solicit. The solicitors are using a sales tactic of telling the residents that there has been a rash of recent home burglaries in that area. The solicitors are trying to make the residents feel unsafe and purchase a residential home security system by misrepresenting crime statistics and criminal activity. Within the City of Bryan, residential burglaries are currently down 25% this year.
The Neighborhood Enforcement Team asks that if you have any questions about your neighborhood to contact them. They can inform you of recent criminal activity and complaints in your neighborhood.
