Park to be named for Buzz Hamilton
The City of Bryan is hosting a reception on Tuesday, Sept. 29, to dedicate the Park Hudson Trail at Morris “Buzz” Hamilton Memorial Park.
The event is set to kick off at 10 a.m. Mike Wright, general manager of KBTX-TV, will serve as master of ceremonies.
Buzz Hamilton was a renowned contributor to the City of Bryan, building such structures as Johnson Elementary School, the Copperfield subdivision and the Park Hudson and Park Meadow neighborhoods. Hamilton passed away in October 2008.
More than 100 people signed a petition, initiated by Hamilton’s development partner Bill Lero, to name the park after Hamilton.
“We’re excited to recognize a man who committed his life to making Bryan a better place to live,” Lero said. “We just wish he could be here to see it.”
Following the reception, walking tours of the park will be provided and refreshments will be served. A shuttle service will bus people from the Brazos Center, 3232 Briarcrest Drive, to the ceremony site, beginning at 9:15 a.m. On-site parking will not be available.
