Bryan Police Drug Enforcement Team Conduct Search Warrant
On October 7, 2009, the Bryan Police Department’s Drug Enforcement Team (DET), along with the Texas Department of Public Safety Narcotics Unit and College Station Police Department, conducted a search warrant 1005 Bayou Woods Drive in College Station, Texas. The search warrant was a result of a cooperative investigation by DET and Texas DPS Narcotics.
The search warrant yielded:
48.32 grams of crack cocaine
2.0 grams of marijuana
Estimated street value $3,345.00
Item seized were:
2003 Buick Ultra
2000 Buick LeSabre
1976 Cadillac Eldorado convertible
Century Arms 556 (.223 caliber assault rifle)
Hawkins, Bennie Ray Jr., B/M, DOB 01/02/1989, College Station resident
Hawkins was charged with:
• Manufacture/delivery of controlled substance in Penalty Group 1 (cocaine); 4 grams < 200 grams.
• Tampering with physical evidence.
Manufacture/delivery of controlled substance in Penalty Group 1, 4 grams < 200 grams is a felony of the first degree. Punishable by confinement for a term from 5 to 99 years in prison: and an optional fine not to exceed $10,000.
Tampering with physical evidence is a third degree felony punishable by confinement for a term from 2 to 10 years in prison; and an optional fine not to exceed $10,000.
Bennie Hawkins is currently being held at the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office without bond.
A juvenile defendant was also arrested. The name of the juvenile will not be released. The juvenile was transported to the Brazos County Juvenile Detention Center.
This Bryan Police Department would like to thank the Texas Department of Public Safety Narcotics Unit for their partnership during the investigation and during the search warrant. This partnership helped remove drugs and drug dealers off the streets of our community.
