Bryan hires new community librarian

Larry Koeninger will start Nov.16 as the community librarian for the Bryan+College Station Library System.

He succeeds Clara Mounce, who served the City of Bryan for more than 30 years. A retirement reception is planned for Mounce at 4 p.m. Dec. 4, at the Bryan Public Library.

Koeninger has served as the director of the Fort Dodge, Iowa, Public Library since 2003. He previously served as the librarian in Rosenberg and for the LaMarque, Andrews and Central independent school districts – all in Texas.

He has a bachelor’s degree in fine arts and a master of library science degree from the University of Texas. He earned a doctorate in educational leadership at Texas Tech.

“We are looking forward to getting Larry on board,” said Deputy City Manager Joey Dunn. “He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our community.”

Koeninger’s salary is $75,000.
