Feedback sought for downtown parking study
Officials with San Antonio-based Alliance Transportation Group will have a booth in downtown Bryan for First Friday on the evening of Nov. 6 to collect input from residents for a downtown parking study.
At the open house, there will be an opportunity for the public to view informational displays and aerial maps, and to provide input to the study team that is developing proposed solutions to identified problems.
The City of Bryan, jointly with The District, is contracting with Alliance Transportation for $85,000 to perform the study. It covers the area bound by Sims Street to the west, Texas Avenue on the east, 18th Street on the north and 29th Street on the south, including the impact of the planned downtown parking garage.
“We hope to get some good suggestions and recommendations that will provide opportunities for mitigating parking challenges in the downtown area,” said Nikki Norton, the City’s graduate civil engineer.
Residents who are unable to fill out a survey during the monthly First Friday event this weekend can do so online at www.bryantx.gov. The consultants are scheduled to deliver a draft report to city officials in mid-January and will present their findings to the City Council in late January.
