Bryan Police encourage residents to register burglar alarms
The Bryan Police Department would like to encourage all Bryan residents that have burglar alarms to ensure they are registered. Recently the City of Bryan partnered with PMAM to monitor and register alarms within the city. They will provide false alarm prevention education and research alarms that are not registered. The registration fee for residential and commercial alarms is $75.00 for a 3 year permit. Residents are encouraged to go to www.bryantxpolice.com and click on the Alarm Permits on the right side of the page. There is a link (register online) where the alarm owner can register the alarm online from the convenience of their own home or business. The site also allows them to monitor the history of their alarm activity.
The Bryan Police Department responds to all residential and commercial alarms that are dispatched through Brazos 911. The home owner or business is allotted 5 free false alarms per calendar year. After the 5th false alarm a fee of $50.00 is assessed to the home owner or business owner. False Robbery alarms are assessed a fine of $100.00 per incident. PMAM will help in identifying the cause of the false alarm and educate the public in an effort to prevent false alarms. The Bryan Police Department spends approximately 45 minutes investigating each alarm call and historically approximately 98% have been false in nature. The goal of the partnership with PMAM is to reduce these numbers.
