Bryan Police Investigating Fatal Accident
On December 10, 2009 at 7:24pm, the Bryan Police Department responded to a major accident at the 2700 block of East Highway 21. A 2004 Toyota Highlander was traveling East on Highway 21 when it swerved into oncoming traffic and struck a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck head on. The Dodge pickup truck was traveling west at the time of impact. The Highlander flipped several times and struck a 1988 Plymouth Reliant, which was also traveling west. The Bryan Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit and the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene to investigate the accident. Two occupants of the Dodge Ram were transported to St. Joseph’s with minor injuries. The driver of the Plymouth Reliant was extracted from the vehicle by the Bryan Fire Department and transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The driver of the Toyota Highlander was pronounced deceased on scene. The deceased was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and an autopsy has been ordered.
The deceased person was identified as Barry L. Reece, 21 year old, from Frankston, Texas.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes of East Highway 21 were closed till around midnight. The area affected was between Bluebonnet and Tabor Road.
