Council recommits to strategic initiatives at retreat
The Bryan City Council on Saturday wrapped up a two-day retreat in which staff members highlighted their accomplishments over the past year, and council members recommitted to six strategic initiatives.
The retreat was held at the Bryan Justice Center and included input from City Manager David Watkins, two deputy city managers and several department directors.
Council members discussed six areas of emphasis identified in 2007: Image, infrastructure, growth, diversity, education and public safety. They agreed that great strides have been made in each area over the past few years, but said they wanted to continue focusing on those areas in the future.
The retreat was facilitated by former Friendswood City Manager Ron Cox. He will submit an updated strategic plan to council at a later date, based on the information gathered at the retreat.
