Temporary road closure
On Saturday, March 20, 2010, beginning at 5am, the Texas Department of Transportationís (TxDOT) contractor will temporarily close the SH 6 Northbound Mainlanes between FM 158 and SH 21. Concrete beams will be installed over the northbound lanes of SH 6 for the new MLK/Old Reliance bridge. During this time, the existing MLK/Old Reliance Bridge will be closed for the safety of the traveling public. SH 6 northbound traffic will be detoured to the frontage road to bypass the work area.
The SH 6 northbound mainlanes will be reopened to traffic by 5pm; however, the existing MLK/Old Reliance Bridge will remain closed.
On Sunday, March 21, 2010, beginning at 5am, TxDOTís contractor will temporarily close the SH 6 Southbound Mainlanes between SH 21 and FM 158 to complete the installation of concrete beams for the new bridge. SH 6 southbound traffic will be detoured to the frontage road to bypass the work area. The SH 6 southbound mainlanes and MLK/Old Reliance Bridge will be reopened to traffic by 5pm.
These closures are part of the $4.2 million dollar SH 6 MLK/Old Reliance Underpass Project contracted to W.W. Webber, LLC.
