Registration for summer swim lessons begins May 1 at the Bryan Aquatic Center. Each session meets Monday through Friday for two weeks and cost $35. Classes are available for ages 3 through adult.
Registration for the Junior Lifeguard program for ages 11-14 also begins May 1. The program offers an opportunity to learn and practice swimming and lifeguarding skills and become certified in Community First Aid and CPR.
Camp H.E.R.O. day camp will be held May 24-Aug. 13. Registration is now under way. The camp promotes health and self-esteem, while keeping children active through games, field trips and swim days. The camp is held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is a one-time registration fee of $20 for one child or $30 for a family. In addition, there is a cost of $100 per week for the first child and $90 per week for each additional child – or $25 per day per child. The first two weeks of camp will be held at Austin’s Colony Park, and the remainder at Sam Houston Elementary School.
The summer parks program offers field trips, swim days, kickball tournaments and arts and crafts from noon to 5 p.m. June 1-July 9. Lunch is provided, and the only cost is $5 for each field trip.
Hershey Track and Field Games are set for 10 a.m. May 15 at Merrill Green Stadium. Registration is under way. Events include 50-meter dash, 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, relay, standing long jump and softball throw. Boys and girls ages 9-14 are invited to participate.
