Highway 6/MLK bridge demolition to begin Friday
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On Friday, June 25, 2010, beginning at 8am, the Texas Department of Transportationís (TxDOT)
contractor will permanently close the existing Texas 6 Old Reliance/MLK bridge in preparation for its demolition
which will begin later that day.
On Friday, June 25, 2010, beginning at 7 p.m., the Texas 6 northbound and southbound main lanes between
F.M. 158 and Texas 21 will be temporarily closed over the weekend for the demolition of the Old Reliance/MLK
bridge. SH 6 traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads to bypass the demolition area. The demolition work is
scheduled to end on Sunday evening and SH 6 will be re-opened to traffic on Monday morning by 5a.m.
The newly constructed Old Reliance/MLK Bridge is scheduled to open by the following Friday, July 2.
This work is part of the $4.2 million dollar Texas 6 MLK/Old Reliance Underpass Project contracted to W.W.
