Services pending for former Bryan councilman
Former Bryan City Councilman Joe Marin Jr. passed away late Wednesday evening at St. Joseph Regional Health Center. He had suffered a severe heart attack earlier in the week.
Marin, 69, was a retired salesman at Sterling Pontiac and Cadillac. He was elected to his first three-year term on the Bryan City Council on May 5, 2001. He was elected to a second term on May 15, 2004. He served six years and then term limited out.
Prior to his service on the City Council, Marin served on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board from 1998 to 2001.
Marin fought passionately for the residents in Single Member District 1, the area he represented, but also worked for the good of the entire city.
Bryan city staff members on Thursday recalled how much they enjoyed working with Marin during his time on council. Mayor Jason Bienski, on behalf of the Bryan City Council, said Marin would be missed.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
