Central Texas Idol auditions set for July 10
The City of Bryan, KYLE Fox 28 and the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum are teaming up this summer to give local youth an opportunity to audition for the chance to compete on the acclaimed reality television program American Idol.
Tryouts will be held Saturday, July 10, at Margaret W. Rudder Performing Arts Center on Rudder High Campus. Up to 30 contestants will be selected to go on to a competition in Killeen, where one winner will be selected to audition before an Executive Producer of Freemantle Media, producers of American Idol.
Registration will begin at 11 a.m. and auditions will begin as early as 11:30 a.m.
Bryan City Secretary Mary Lynne Stratta and a City Council member will serve as guest judges of the competition.
American Idol is expanding the eligibility age range for the first time ever to include hopefuls from 15 to 28 years old. (The previous minimum age requirement was 16.) A registration form will be posted at www.kyle28.com. If the person auditioning is under the age of 18, they need to have a legal guardian present to sign as well.
Official rules will be posted later this week. Visit www.kyle28.com and click on the “Central Texas Idol” icon for up-to-date announcements and information.
