Portion of W 28th Street to be closed for month-long sewer project
Beginning Wednesday, September 29, at 7 a.m. through approximately Wednesday October 27 at 6 p.m., West 28th Street will be closed to all traffic from Congress Street to Holt Street.
The closure is necessary so a contractor for The City of Bryan can remove and replace old sanitary sewer pipe currently running down West 28th Street. This is part of the Commerce Street Sanitary Sewer Project.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid this area completely during this time; however for local traffic a detour will be provided. For thru-traffic travelling westbound on West 28th street, the detour will send vehicles north at Sims Avenue and west down West 27th Street, finally travelling south on Brazos Avenue to rejoin West 28th Street. For thru-traffic travelling eastbound on West 28th street, the detour will send vehicles north at Brazos Avenue, east at West 27th Street and south at Congress avenue.
The existing road closure on West 28th Street from South Street to Milwaukee Street will be opened in conjunction with this closure.
