Army Reserve Center groundbreaking to be held in Bryan
Bryan Mayor Jason Bienski will be joined by national and military leaders at a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Army Reserve Center for the 420th Engineers Brigade at the Bryan Business Park on Friday, October 22.
The dedication will begin at 10 a.m. on location at 2350 N. Harvey Mitchell Pkwy.
The new center will be able to better accommodate the needs of the 420th Engineers Brigade, which is currently housed in a smaller, aging facility in Bryan on West Carson Street. The new center will be constructed on 38 acres of land purchased from the Bryan Business Council and will include space for a 150-member training facility with an administrative area, educational area, assembly area, a library, a learning center, a vault, a weapons simulator, and physical fitness areas for four Army Reserve units.
The total cost for construction is projected to be $12.2 million and is expected to be completed in 18 months.
The 420th has deployed to Iraq multiple times, and returned last year from a tour in Afghanistan. The brigade has been located in Bryan since 1958.
Media and the public are invited to attend.
