The Woodville Road / SH 6 (Earl Rudder Freeway) overpass will be closed beginning March 30 and the South Coulter Drive Reconstruction Project is beginning April 6.
There’s this unexplainable thing that makes Bryan special. It’s how friendly everyone is, their pride in the community. And, as we welcome hundreds of new residents each year, there becomes more and more to love about the city.
Check out just a few of the reasons to love Bryan.
Downtown Bryan – A Texas Cultural District
Whether you’re looking for a delicious culinary experience, lively nightlife or unique boutique shopping, there’s something for everyone to enjoy in Downtown Bryan. One of a handful of Cultural Districts in Texas, Downtown Bryan combines history, arts, music, craftsmanship and food into a 30-block neighborhood in the heart of Bryan.
You can take in a concert or watch a play. Grab a cup of coffee or savor a good meal. Pick up a gift or shop for yourself.
Parks around every corner
Outdoor fun is just a step away in Bryan. And, with more than 50 parks in the city, you don’t have to go far to find one. Go to Lake Bryan to camp, fish and kayak; or, head to Austin’s Colony Park for a game of pickleball or tennis. Meander through beautiful nature trails at Park Hudson or bring your pup to Morris “Buzz” Hamilton Dog Park for some exercise.
Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) is your municipally-owned electric utility and provides some of the lowest rates in the state. Unlike investor-owned utilities, BTU’s rates are set by the Bryan City Council, and only recover what it costs to serve customers—not to make a profit. BTU is also a two-time recipient of the American Public Power Association’s (APPA) prestigious Reliable Public Power (RP3) Diamond Award for its significantly lower-than-average outage frequency and duration.
For more information, please visit BTU’s website.
Bryan’s Police (BPD) and Fire Departments (BFD) are two of the best in the country. Their combined efforts keep the community as safe as possible. Over the last 10 years, there has been a 41 percent reduction in Part 1 crimes, and BPD is only one of 3 percent of agencies nationwide to be accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies. BFD is one of 400 agencies nationwide to have an Insurance Services Office (ISO) top rating of Class 1, and its EMS service is one of 11 agencies in Texas to be accredited through the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulances Services.
