UPDATED: BCS Libraries Host 5th Annual Tuba Christmas

RESCHEDULED TO DECEMBER 22nd DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER!

On Saturday, December 22, 2018, the Bryan+College Station Public Library System will host the 5th Annual Tuba Christmas celebration during the December First Friday celebration in Historic Downtown Bryan, Texas. The performance will begin at 1:30 PM in front of the Carnegie History Center located at 111 South Main Street in Bryan.

WHAT: 5th Annual Tuba Christmas Concert
WHEN: Saturday, December 22nd – 1:30 PM
WHERECarnegie History Center – 111 S. Main Street, Downtown Bryan

We invite all baritone, euphonium, and tuba players to join us in presenting a unique performance of traditional Christmas music in downtown Bryan. This year’s guest director is Leslie Zorn, A&M Consolidated Middle School’s Band Director.

Saturday, December 22nd:
9 AM – Registration opens at Clara B. Mounce Public Library – 201 E. 26th Street ($10 per participant)
10 AM to 12 PM (noon) – Rehearsal/Contest/Door Prizes at Clara B. Mounce Public Library
1:30 PM – Christmas concert in front of the Carnegie History Center – 111 S. Main Street

Tuba Christmas was conceived by Harvey Phillips in 1974 as a tribute to William J. Bell. Bell was the premier tuba player in America in the first half of the twentieth century, performing with John Phillip Sousa, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and the NBC Symphony Orchestra.

Registration is $10 per participant and is due at registration. For additional information about performing in this year’s Tuba Christmas Concert, please contact us at bcstubaxmas@gmail.com.
