April 5 through 9, 2021 is National Community Development Week, which celebrates cities that receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Home Investment Partnership program (HOME) funds. The City of Bryan is one of those cities.
Bryan achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program’s four requirements:
- A tree board or department
- A tree care ordinance
- An annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita
- An Arbor Day observance and proclamation
Bryan residents and visitors can enjoy the vast number of trees and natural elements in one of the city’s 50+ parks and along more than 37 miles of trails in the community.
“Everyone benefits when we make smart investments in Bryan’s urban forest. Trees bring shade to our homes, beauty to our neighborhoods and economic, social and environmental benefits to the entire community,” said Linda Cornelius, Bryan’s Parks & Recreation Director.
