There’s this unexplainable thing that makes Bryan special. It’s how friendly everyone is, their pride in the community. And, as we welcome hundreds of new residents each year, there becomes more and more to love about the city.
The Bryan Drive-In Recycling Center at 2202 Briarcrest Drive will be permanently closing to allow for redevelopment of the Walmart shopping center.
The Recycling Center will operate normal business hours from now until its last day Sunday, Feb. 16. The facility will be permanently closed beginning Monday, Feb. 17.
In 2018, city staff were approached by Walmart with the planned redevelopment of the shopping center that includes the property occupied by the Recycling Center. City staff and the Bryan City Council investigated various options and ultimately decided not to relocate the drive-in recycling center in its current form.
Residents are encouraged to contract with private companies, permitted by the city, to handle most common recyclable materials. A list of options is available on the city’s website.
The City of Bryan is also in the process of improving the Do-it-yourself Oil Center located at the Municipal Services Center, 1111 Waco St., to include a drop-off tire recycling service for Bryan residents.
