City owned and managed, Coulter Field has been operating with a deficit for years. But Bryan city officials say the good that comes from the airport makes up for the difference.
“The airport actually puts out about seven point eight million dollars in economic impact to the community,” said Airport Manager James Brown.
That number comes from a recent TxDOT study, and took into consideration how many companies are using the airfield, and how many jobs those companies have in the area.
Brown said it’s, in part, thanks to the recent oil boom in the Brazos Valley. He said companies prefer to fly workers into Coulter Field because of the location and ease of access.
