On December 10, 2018, the Development Services Department welcomed a new team member – Staff Planner Katie Williams. Katie is a graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in Geography and the University of Illinois at Chicago with a Master’s degree in Urban Planning and Policy. Her Master’s degree focus was on urban design and GIS.
Katie’s previous work experience includes interning as a zoning planner for the City of Evanston, Illinois, and serving as an associate planner for the Village of Lake Zurich, Illinois. In her spare time, she enjoys going on cruises with her husband and spending time at the dog park with her two pit bulls.
As a staff planner, Katie will join Site Development Review Committee (SDRC), which is responsible for reviewing proposed site plans, platting requests, and exceptions to subdivision regulations. She will also be a case manager for various requests considered by the Planning and Zoning Commission, including planning variances, replats, rezonings, conditional use permits, and right-of-way abandonments.
Katie has also joined the department’s “staffer on call” service, which helps ensure that a staff member is available during all business hours to assist customers both in person and over the phone, and guide them through the development review process. If you have any questions for Katie please give her a call at (979) 209-5030 or contact her by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
