BTU Board extends electric rate reduction to customers
The Board of Directors of Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU) voted to extend a rate-reduction measure, which was originally set to expire at the end of May. The reduction of the power supply adjustment by one-half will result in an approximate 15% reduction in electric costs for customers.
Midtown’s Pattern Zoning wins national Merit Award

City accepts donation of Phillips Event Center property
The Phillips Event Center is now owned by the City of Bryan, after the Bryan City Council accepted the property as a donation from Wallace Phillips of the 1980 Phillips Group, LCC, at their May 18, 2020 meeting.
Making children count in the 2020 Census
Children under age 5 are one of the largest groups of undercounted people in the United States. Population counts from the Census are used to fund programs that directly affect children in our community, and being undercounted means being underfunded.
City of Bryan offices closed for Memorial Day
On Monday, May 25, 2020, the City of Bryan Municipal Office Building and all other city administrative offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day. City offices will resume normal operating hours on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
Midtown Area Plan approved by Bryan City Council
As a result of more than 18 months of community outreach, economic research, stakeholder feedback sessions, and problem solving, the Bryan City Council unanimously approved adopting the Midtown Area Plan at its May 12, 2020 meeting.

The City of Bryan is collecting information regarding economic impacts to our small businesses (under 500 employees) as a result of the coronavirus. Your responses are very important. They will be used to help guide city in preparation of a small business recovery plan.
Two lane closures on Villa Maria this week
Motorists may want to find an alternate route around West Villa Maria Road beginning this week, as construction crews will have inside lanes closed on various sections of the road.
Several City of Bryan buildings will soon begin reopening to the public on a limited basis.
Members of the public are still encouraged to continue conducting business with the city remotely, where possible. A list of ways to do so is available on the city’s website.
All visitors to city buildings will be asked to continue practicing social distancing of at least 6 feet and safe hygiene. Additionally, all visitors will be asked to complete a questionnaire before being allowed to access city facilities.
The building will be open to the public for some in-person services on May 4, including Development Services.
The city’s Vital Statistics office will remain closed to in-person visits until further notice. Residents should continue to conduct business online or by phone at 979.209.5007.
Fiscal services will not accept in-person payments at this time. Anyone needing to make a payment may do so over the phone by calling 979.209.5080.
The BTU lobby will remain closed to the public until further notice. In addition to the 24-hour payment kiosk, BTU’s drive-through remains open for normal business hours.
The Municipal Court building will open to the public on Monday, May 11. Anyone with questions before then should call 979.209.5400.
The Bryan Animal Center will be open for regular hours beginning Tuesday, May 5, by appointment only. Please call 979.209.5260 to make an appointment
The Police Department’s lobby will open to the public on May 4.
All fire stations will remain closed to the public until further notice.
The Municipal Services Center will open to the public on May 4. Residents are encouraged to continue using the Public Works Call Center at 979.209.5900 to report issues.
The Parks & Recreation offices will open to the public on May 11. Registration is available online or via phone by calling 979.209.5528.
The Cemetery office will open to the public on May 4.
City pools, splash pads, pavilions, the Bryan Tennis Center and the Neal Rec Center will remain closed until further notice.
Coulter Field will remain closed to the public until further notice.
