The City of Bryan Fiscal Services Department recently received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Fiscal Year 2016 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure to clearly communicate the City of Bryan’s financial story and to motivate citizens to read the CAFR. In addition, the report must be easy to read, efficiently organized, and must also satisfy both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable legal requirements.
