City of Bryan Schedules Sanitary Sewer System Smoke Test

Crews from the City of Bryan Water Services Department will conduct a smoke test Tuesday, September 18, 2018, through Thursday, September 20, 2018, to identify broken pipes, leaks, or other defects within the City’s sanitary sewer system. Beginning at 8 AM daily, City crews will release smoke into the sanitary sewer lines through manholes to conduct the test. City crews will enter properties to document defects but will not need or request to enter private residences. Citizens do not need to be home during the test.

Please note testing could continue intermittently through the end of September. The following areas will be affected:

Properties located within the boundaries of Hillcrest Circle, Barak Lane, Southview Circle, Midwest Drive, Barak Circle, Parkway Terrace, Broadmoor Drive, Delma Drive, Craig Street, Kelli Lane, Carter Creek Parkway, Wilson Oaks Drive, Spring Lane, Sweetbriar Drive, Sylvan Drive, Sunnybrook Lane, Stillmeadow Drive, Briar Oaks Drive, East 29th Street, Tanglewood Drive, Briar Cliff Drive, Mimosa Drive, Sandia Plaza, Sweetbriar Drive, Lazy Lane, Edgewood, Hillcrest Circle, Wilde Oak Circle, and Glenn Oaks Drive.

Citizens will see smoke exit from rooftop vent pipes on houses and commercial businesses, from manholes, and from the ground where broken sewer pipes may exist. This smoke is non-toxic, does not leave a residue, and is not a fire hazard. The smoke will not enter a home or business unless there is defective plumbing present or the drain traps are dry. To help prevent smoke from entering your home or business, please pour about one gallon of water into any seldom-used drain.

Have questions? Please contact the City of Bryan Water Services Department by calling (979) 209-5900.
